Dan Jeffrey is a proven Cyber Security leader across Health and Care and is currently the Chief Information Security Officer, Deputy CIO, and Deputy SIRO for NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT). Dan is accountable for the secure design, delivery, and operational running of the technology and infrastructure that underpins the NHS’ Blood, Organ, Tissue, and Plasma services, a significant amount of which is underpinned by Critical National Infrastructure assets. Alongside this Dan is accountable for the Cyber Security of the organisation as a whole and has responsibility across people, process and technology.
Prior to NHSBT, Dan ran the national cyber programme for the Health and Care system at NHS Digital. This was a three year programme with a budget of ~£150m and saw the average compliance position of the NHS raise from ~20% to ~75% since the onset of WannaCry, while also establishing a number of propositions and services including the Secure Boundary service which analyses, triages, and (where appropriate) alerts against over 14 billion events a week.
