Dr Jim O'Donnell

Dr O’Donnell qualified at NUI Galway in 1978, completing his GP training in Portsmouth in 1982. He worked in tertiary referral medicine in Baghdad, Iraq from 1984 to 1988 followed by a cardiology research post at Wexham Park Hospital Slough involving the first use of thrombolysis in acute myocardial infarction.
He sits on the Frimley ICS Board, is Deputy Chair of the Slough Wellbeing Board, Co-Chair of the Slough Health & Care Partnership Board. He helped to bring about the acquisition of Wexham Park Hospital Foundation Trust by Frimley Park FT in 2014.
He actively promotes healthy gradual retirement programmes for GPs, involving gradual reductions in clinical work commitments, with monthly donations of NHS pension proceeds or GP income to health and care based charities locally.
