Has spent 15 years or so pursuing a strategy for electronic patient records through integration and evolution. This has evolved into a pursuit of a multi vendor architecture using open platforms/open data. Currently overseeing a HIMSS level 7 programme using this approach.

Keen advocate and pioneer in direct patient to secondary care interaction, improving patient experience, aiding efficiency, and removing unnecessary hospital visits. Implemented a platform at UHS called My Medical Record that is used by a number of NHS organizations across England in the UK. This is based on a content management system called the Instant Personal Health Record from Get Real Health. Patients are now benefiting from reduction in unnecessary appointments, and can communicate directly with clinicians.

Behind the My Medical Record sits a Personal Health Record, the “OpenPHR” to drive information sharing in the personal health record space. Many applications, one record, one identity, revolving around standards (FHIR) and hosted in the cloud with connections back to clinicians. This is powered by the CHBase from Get Real Health and resides in the Microsoft UK Azure Cloud [as at Jan 2020].
